My poster Worker’s Right serves as an awareness as well as reminder to the viewer of the essential right to work in a good working conditions. Most workers in general don’t benefit from this right even though the law protects them. In a developing nation where I live in, most people might not be even aware of this right violation. Hence, I decided to take this perspective when designing the Work Right poster. I choose my icon to be the road construction sign for three reasons. First, it is an international icon that has the worker inside it; therefore, it will be easy to recognize. Second, the space the workers work on is untouched by the public even if the worker is a road construction one. His/ her worker’s condition is visible to the public. Hence, the rhombus sign symbolizes that untouched space. Third, drivers, pedestrians and motorcycle riders avoids this working area. As I mentioned earlier, in a developing country, Egypt, one of the reasons behind people avoiding is due to lack of awareness. Thus, the drivers’, pedestrians’ and motorcycle riders’ behaviors are as well a symbol of inactive or little response towards this issue. As for the word danger filling the page, it symbolize all the negative outcomes that comes from bad working conditions that surrounds the worker. It even breached this untouched space and affect the worker itself. I decided the font to be Helvetica as it is considered the norm for the worker to work in this unsafe environment.
