Melissa Plourde Khoury is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design who specializes in teaching publication design, typography, design history and theory. She came to LAU from the United States, and has been living and teaching in Lebanon since 2004. She holds a M.F.A. in Graphic Design from Boston University
and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her research focus is on design writing, research and education as well as Lebanese design culture and art. She has published writings in international journals on design and presented research at design and education conferences in the United States and Turkey. Prior to moving to Lebanon, she worked as a graphic designer for the Dana-Faber Cancer Research Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She has served as a Contributing Editor for Design Principles and Practices: An International Journal in Spring 2010 and in Fall 2009 was a member of the Conference Paper Review Panel for the Cumulus 38° South: Hemispheric Shifts Across Learning Teaching and Research conference. Her logo designs were published in the LogoLouge Master Library, Volume 4 by Rockport Publishers. Additionally, her poster designs have been selected, exhibited and published in the United States, Denmark and the Ukraine.
