Scott W. Santoro is the author of “Guide to Graphic Design,” a 360-page textbook published by Pearson Education. Scott has served as a Fulbright judge for the program’s review of student design applications and for Sappi Paper’s “Ideas that Matter” design grant. He was a symposium presenter and design judge for the Brno International poster biennial (Czech Republic), an international speaker for the annual Australian Graphic Design Association’s (AGDA) seven-city chapter tour, and an ongoing design lecturer and workshop instructor for university students in mainland China.
Scott holds both a BFA (Pratt Institute) and an MFA (Cranbrook Academy of Art) and is an adjunct professor (CCE) of graphic design at Pratt (since 1997). He has led workshops on design and brand identity at Parsons School of Design, The Cooper Union, and NYU. Scott served as both treasurer (one year) and vice-president (two years) of the NY Chapter of the American Institute of Design and is active as both a speaker, committee member, and workshop leader for numerous design organizations.
Scott named his design studio Worksight as an homage to his early apprenticeship in the blue-collar trade of plumbing. The reference continues to influence him, translating into a clear and direct approach to solving graphic design problems.
