A graduate in Economics, she served for ten years as director of the association "A Buon Diritto", working on issues of deprivation of liberty and migration, and worked during the 17th Legislature with the Human Rights Committee of the Senate.
In December 2023, she was elected coordinator of the Forum of Municipal Ombudspersons, a role she was reconfirmed in December 2025.
She is the co-author of the books "Abolire il carcere. Una ragionevole proposta per la sicurezza dei cittadini" (Chiarelettere, 2015) and "Quando hanno aperto la cella. Storie di corpi offesi. Da Pinelli a Uva, da Aldrovandi al processo per Stefano Cucchi" (Il Saggiatore, 2011).
