Juan F. Matos-de Juan is a puertorrican lawyer, specializing in criminal litigation in the Federal Courts of the United States, where he has represented seven citizens charged in capital cases both at the trial and appellate stages. He is a member of the steering committee of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty and its current treasurer, and president of the Puerto Rico Bar Associations Death Penalty Committee. Mr. Matos-de Juan has been a speaker on the capital punishment both at the national and international level, including the Fourth World Congress Against the Death Penalty. His description on the American death penalty and its effects on Puerto Rico are parts of the annals of the International Symposium for the Universal Abolition of the Death Penalty, organized by the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies and the Government of Spain.
