An anemone growing beyond the confines of its pot, its roots reaching into the soil below, stands for the unbroken dignity of the Palestinian people — a dignity that endures despite suffering, deprivation, loss, death, and the denial of even the most basic right to health, and that has never led them to abandon their homeland. The pot represents the confinement of Gaza, a people compressed into what can be described as a mere handful of land: fragile from the outside, fractured, its boundaries forcibly narrowed. Yet the breaking of this pot is not a defeat but a revelation — for the roots had already reached far beyond the pot, into the true land of Palestine; confinement could not stop the roots, it could only shatter the vessel meant to contain them. Scattered across the broken shards, the words "some / roots / refuse / to / break" form a sentence only when the fragments are gathered and read together — much like the shattered land itself, whose wholeness has been broken, yet whose meaning can still be reassembled. The red-and-white flower blooming at the top is the outcome of this resistance: destruction has been answered not with silence but with blossoming — dignity here is not measured by a vessel imposed from without, but by a people's fidelity to their own roots and their own soil, a stance that resists being broken.

We are pleased to announce the topic for the next edition of our poster contest: Dignity.
It can mean something different to everyone. But we believe that dignity is an inherent human right that transcends language and location. It is the pulse of our shared humanity. And we would like to invite you to defend it with us.
