This poster is inspired by the tragic real-life murder of Romina Ashrafi. In this piece, the scythe, which the father used to commit the murder, is depicted as a symbol of the Angel of Death. The form of the scythe in this poster is an exact representation of the one the father used, reinforcing the direct connection to the tragic event. In various cultures, the scythe is associated with death and the end of life, and here it plays a metaphorical role. One of the most disturbing images that went viral after the incident was a photograph showing Romina’s hair entangled and stuck to the scythe. This detail is reflected in my poster, where the hair wrapped around the scythe symbolizes the innocence, unfinished life, and childlike spirit of the victim, who fell prey to domestic violence. The title, "My Father is an Angel, the Angel of Death," with its bitter irony, highlights the grim reality that the person meant to protect life became the agent of death.
