Often victims of sexual abuse remain silent for fear of being stigmatized by their family and larger social groups and told that they are not fit and balanced people. Sexual harassment is one of the crimes whose impact remains for a long time and its victims suffer a lot of mental and emotional damage. Many of these people prefer to hide these abuses and not talk about it. Sexual harassment is one of the most secretive crimes in society. This secrecy is from the victims and even in many cases no action is taken and sometimes we come across cases where sex offenders victimized many people, but the plaintiffs are not as many as the fingers of one hand. The first reason for such an incident is the labeling of the victim and the society's view. Unfortunately, due to the fact that there is no clear and legal view of this crime and incident in Iranian society, most of the victims remain silent for fear of being stigmatized by their families and larger social groups and being told that they are not suitable and balanced people. Unfortunately, when it is determined that a person has been a victim of a sexual crime or has been sexually abused, he is deprived of many rights in society. Of course, this exclusion is caused by the society and family members. Among them, the victims face a lot of problems and hardships to start a family, work, etc. Therefore, the first factor that causes silence is this issue. Because the person does not want to be isolated and his family does not fall apart and is not rejected. Note that the feeling of loneliness and the consequences of saying this are much heavier than the guilt.

Stop killing women

According to UN Women, 2022 was the year in which the most women were intentionally murdered to date: nearly 89,000. Of these ‘Around 48,800 women and girls worldwide were killed by their intimate partners or other family members (including fathers, mothers, uncles and brothers). This means that, on average, more than 133 women or girls are killed every day by someone in their own family.’
If it’s not bad enough that femicide is increasing, the real statistic is probably much higher: ‘for roughly four in ten intentional murders of women and girls, there is not enough information to identify them as gender-related killings because of national variation in criminal justice recording and investigation practices’.
This must change. So this year, we want to ask your help in drawing attention to all forms of violence against women: for the world to stop killing women.
