No matter how right we think we are, our actions will only be judged by whether or not they have harmed another person. Whether it be emotionally or physically, the act of hurting another person automatically makes your decision wrong. Such acts ranging from abuse, bullying, racism, sexism, homophobia, war, and sadly more can never be justified. Again, it doesn’t matter how right the instigators think they are. The bottom line is that we cannot and should not torment each other like this.
I understand that hate is an innate emotion that will probably never go away, and I don’t expect it to either. But that is where I also think a person’s moral character comes into play. People can decide to hate on another person or group, but they can also be the one to decide whether or not to act upon their opinions. To be able to empathize and understand how one might feel after being a victim, is the first step to changing hearts around the world. And if we can all remember to put ourselves in another person’s shoes once in a while, I believe that our world can become a better place.

Do The Right Thing

In a world that is becoming increasingly polarised, perhaps the one thing that unites us all is the conviction that we are all acting for the right reasons. And having formed an opinion about an issue, there is little room to have it changed by listening to an opposing view. Fake news has eroded trust in facts. So how can we move forward?
