For a long time, society has chosen to remain silent on several controversial topics because they're "uncomfortable" to talk about or it's something people refuse to acknowledge is a persisting issue in our society. I believe it's essential we all come together and have open conversation about controversial subjects that have impact on our basic human rights such as racism, homophobia, sexism, and other forms of discrimination. There needs to keep being open conversation on what exactly "doing the right thing" is. It's much easier for those in power that we all keep silent and just "trust the system". However, it's the same system that was originally built on the oppression on others. The people across the world coming together in unity holds so much more power than the people in power. This is why it's so important each individual makes the decision to break their own silence. So we, as a community, can come together as one and do the right thing together.
