This design was inspired by the travel ban affecting Google employees from the United States that are traveling abroad. As the brief stated, there are brilliant, innovative minds that are not just from within one's "own" country. I wanted to somehow visually represent that shutting people out can prevent them from contributing their ideas and abilities to the country, and could even lead to negative impact on the future. If our leaders, for example, refuse entry to a talented immigrant, we may also be the ones to suffer the effects. The giant robot represents partial solutions by brilliant people within our borders, yet it is incomplete. If our leaders fail to allow a person to contribute to our greater good by entering our country- bringing the leg to help repair the giant robot- then it might as well topple over on those leaders.

In last year's brief we talked about "a world where boundaries are becoming less and less meaningful. Now more than ever, we are one people. No matter where we live, we are all equally powerless in the face of war or environmental disaster."
