Whether Muslim women wear a hijab, niqab, burka, chador, or a khimar, they are constantly associated with terrorism and fear. Many westerners do not understand the religious aspect behind the Muslim headdresses. This fear of Islam and it's women leads to heartless discrimination. With actual terrorist groups like ISIS, many westerners begin to confuse the tame, honest Muslims with the radicals. It makes it difficult for those in Syria to seek refuge without prejudice and hesitance. Even when 9/11 occurred, Muslim immigrants faced harsh scrutiny.
