LONELINESS: Depressing feeling of being alone. Remote from places of human habitation. Are we human? The Mediterranean sea is becoming the only way for Syrian, African and eastern Mediterranean migrants to escape from their war-torn regions. Those migrants dream a better future so they attempt to get to Europe crossing the sea using insecure boats. Many of them lose their lives during this hazard. Italy is in the middle of this sea and every day is facing the problem to rescue thousands of refugees abandoned in the middle of nowhere. Many times the italian Prime Minister asked for help to other EU members. European leaders are poised to close off the migration across the Mediterranean. It seems like no one want to save them, no one want to keep them. Italy, NGO, migrants, everyone is facing his destiny alone. I illustrated a kid refugee with life jacket hugging Italy and saving himself from the drown. I illustrated this kid thinking about Alan Kurds, sad iconic symbol of refugee crisis. Yellow: the EU (stars), the beach by the sea but also the colour of a dry and insensitive land. White: the sea, the pureness, the place where thousands of innocent migrants lose their lives.

In last year's brief we talked about "a world where boundaries are becoming less and less meaningful. Now more than ever, we are one people. No matter where we live, we are all equally powerless in the face of war or environmental disaster."
