Greece is a country that has experienced immigration many times in the past, and still experiences this worldwide phenomenon. Due to the huge wave of war refugees the Greek community has got sensitive and supportive towards all these people. The first “Immigration is not a crime” stencils appeared at the urban landscape of the country. The stencil “Immigration is not a crime” is the original idea and stands as an international awareness emblem, popular to the people all around the globe. The wall where the stencil is applied represents the intertemporal nature of the immigration – an old, almost destroyed wall that reveals the map of the earth. And also resembles some of the many warfare areas our planet has with the marks of bullets. The position of the crane bird is focused at the Middle East – a place of endless wars through the years. The red colour represents the bloodshed of the innocent people who couldn’t leave their countries to be safe. At last, the aesthetic of the poster was manipulated in order to give it the feeling of a reportage photo, of an occurrence that happens now! Immigration is not a crime. War is the crime, and humanity must take responsibilty of its consequences. Freedom of movement is the first step!
