Historically borders have constantly moved, to the extent that old maps are almost unrecognizable to us today. it is the malleability of states, nations and sovereignty that I was exploring through the imagery of the zip that can be opened and closed at will, but even with outside and internal pressure these decisions usually rest in the hands of a single person.
