By 2013, 6.97 million Americans were under some form of correctional control.
Either in prison, jail on probation or on parole. From 1980, the number rose from 1.84 million in that year.
The term Mass Incarceration refers to an over-population of correctional facilities. America are the most damaged from this problem. There is no Freedom of Movement for the people in these prisons due to the over-population of these facilities
The only movement on display is the number of prisoners moving upwards. This problem continues to get bigger and needs to be spoken for.
The heart lock signifies hope. The hope that the term Mass Incarceration can be diminished by decreasing crime rates and creating a better system for everyone.

In last year's brief we talked about "a world where boundaries are becoming less and less meaningful. Now more than ever, we are one people. No matter where we live, we are all equally powerless in the face of war or environmental disaster."
