It may seem like a sci-fi movie, but advancing robotics and algorithms are rapidly replacing jobs traditionally done by humans. Just think about how many jobs rely on driving a vehicle — Google’s self-driving cars could easily replace all of them in the very near future. Sooner rather than later, citizens from all nations must pressure their respective governments to figure out how this is going to work, because it’s a brand new moment in human history and it’s ripe for abuse by corporations and governments. New technologies should benefit the inventors and investors behind them, but we must ensure that they do not do so at the expense of the 7 billion other humans on earth.
