Many people talk about and see physical disability discrimination, but not many people are aware of mental disability discrimination. Mental health is easily overlooked because it is often not readily seen or it is expressed as taboo and then nothing gets done for them in the workplace. Unfortunately, because of this, many people are fired or end up quitting because they are not given the understanding or respect for their mental illness. The thing is, people with mental health issues do have rights and their workplaces can be held liable. A huge reason why nothing is done is because we are unaware of, first, the injustices going on, second, that these laws exist. The purpose of my poster is to call people to become aware of these two points mentioned: mental health discrimination does happen and people with mental health disabilities do have rights (and how to learn about them). I designed my poster simply and boldly to grab attention and retain information of my extremely important topic. I included a prescription bottle with no label to include a plethora of different mental illnesses rather then to focus on one.
