A good urbanism is not a matter of numbers and building rates. Renzo Piano once said that if it was only a matter of building density, Venice it would be the greatest speculation of the history. Contrariwise it is a masterpiece, proof that the medieval city had already given us a good example of how the city can grow livable and pleasant although overcrowding and high density. But the component of self-construction, the participation of the population in the project, is crucial.
