As a woman, I am interested in the relationship between homeless women and domestic violence. Studies and experts clearly show that many women experiencing homelessness are survivors of domestic violence. Women can’t stay in their homes because of the situation but when they decides to leave, they often has nowhere to go... and they will often has encounter more trouble once on the streets. They are forced to choose between abuse at home or life in the streets. Shelters provide immediate safety and is a first step, but is necessary a home, a place to live in safety and peace. The right of housing is more than simply a right to shelter. Domestic violence victims need a safer future.
