In South Africa we have a growing problem where children are taking over the role of the parent due to death or illness. These children take on the responsibilities of the household in order to survive and provide a future for their siblings. A child-headed household is like a vine without support as they don't have the support from their parents represented in the cut off base in the vine. The childs face is represented in the vine and in the background is a path which acts as the journey that these children face and double up as tears, as these situations are difficult and often scary. The houses in the distance act as the eyes of the child and the ideal future that they wish to be apart of the ideal home.

‘Home’ means something different to all of us. The place where we grew up, the place where we live at the moment, the place we come to relax or entertain our friends. But for far too many people home remains a distant dream, as they try to eke out an existence in sub-standard accommodation or sleep rough on the streets.
