Khuda Bux Abro’s works reflect an earnest passion for social issues, and portray these issues effectively. Born in Hyderabad in 1957, Abro has dabbled in every form of the visual arts. An activist to the core, his work deals with social themes and issues ranging from human rights to dictatorial regimes. A prolific artist, photographer, illustrator, graphic designer, calligrapher, cartoonist and blogger, he has held several exhibitions even before he joined the National College of Arts in Lahore. Most of Abro's works are strongly political, in which his intent has always been to get the message out, with little interest in commercial successes. His sensitivity to the plight of women, and his desire for regional peace, are all expressed strongly in his works. His eye for vibrant colours is as apparent in his photos as in his paintings. He works with Daily DAWN as an illustrator.
